Why are nearly all flat panel sets put on wall? If the viewer is sitting, that means one has to look up all the time, which is very fatiguing for the eyes. Ideally, one should look slightly down or straight ahead; my preference is for down, the same level as a fire in a fireplace. Not above the mantle! Placing the set on a stand does not conceal it but rather makes it more prominent. It should not be beyond the ability of furniture makers to manufacture a cabinet about 48" x 31" -and, say, 18/21" deep, to accommodate a decent size set. In the early days of CRT TVs, there were beautiful cabinets, or in the UK, "consoles) which kept the screen low and easy to view. Why not now?
