That depends on how good your eyes are, but at 46" you should see a much more crisp and defined image on the Blu-ray. While an Upscaler really helps the DVD's, they are still based on the DVD resolution, and they can not _add_ the extra image information. An upscaler can only enhance/sharpen the edges, it can not add the minute details like texture.
I read somewhere that the worst of the Blu-rays are still visibly better than the upscaled DVD's, where as the best of the Blu-rays blows any upscaler right out of the water.
Keep the Upscaling DVD player for your existing movies, and get a Blu-ray player for any new movies you buy from now on.
