You can get a good picture if you really really play with the video settings. Even with High Def, you will have to play for days or weeks to get the right picture. The auto settings absolutely suck.
I pulled out the Vizio owner's manual, read how each setting affects the picture and through trial and error managed to get a descent picture with my Dish Network High Def receiver....but it took a very long time and many different movies/sporting events to finally get it right. It may not be perfect yet, but this is what I have:
Brightness - 57 Contrast - 78 Color - 42 Tint - 0 Sharpness - 5
Advanced Video
DNR - Strong Black Level Extender - On White Peak Limiter - On CTI - Medium Flesh Tone - On Adaptive Luma - Off DCR - On
I'm going to qualify this again, I THINK I have it right, but I can't be 100% positive. Good Luck!
