SAMSUNG Announces The Latest Advancements In High-Definition Home Cinema With 2005 Plasma TV Line

Samsung Revamps the Home Theater Category with Top-of-The-Line Resolution, Wide Viewing Angles and Screen Sizes from 42” to 80”

Indianapolis, IN - World-recognized plasma TV leader Samsung, ushers in a new age of home theater entertainment with its 2005 line of Widescreen Plasma HDTVs. With screen sizes ranging from 42" to an industry-leading 80" Samsung's 2005 Plasma HDTVs represent one of the most extensive line-ups the market has to offer. High quality video, stunning color and elegant design make Samsung plasmas the perfect choice to accentuate the home theater lifestyle. Experience Samsung's plasma HDTVs during CEDIA 2005 at the Samsung booth (#393), September 9-11 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Samsung's Widescreen Plasma HDTVs demonstrate the culmination of a long-term commitment to excellence in design and performance. Home theater aficionados can revel in deep blacks and brilliant whites provided by the 10,000:1 contrast ratio. A horizontal viewing angle of more than 175 degrees provides a picture-perfect entertainment experience from almost anywhere in the room. A feat of modern design, many new models eliminate the bezel creating a striking "floating glass" effect, making it a stylish showpiece for any living room.

"Samsung is committed to becoming a leading force in the plasma category. We plan to reinforce that position with the introduction of top-of-the-line plasma displays offering the quality and value that has accelerated the adoption of HD-technology in consumer living rooms and beyond," said Jonas Tanenbaum, Director of Flat Panel and Direct View Marketing for Samsung Electronics America. "We will continue to meet the needs and demands of this unique market by providing stunning picture quality and a broad range of flat-panel screen sizes to make Samsung synonymous with home theater."

On display at CEDIA are Samsung's 42" HP-R4252 and 50" HP-R5052, which offer flat-panel elegance for the home entertainment hub. Both are high definition plasma TVs with integrated ATSC and Digital Cable Ready (DCR) tuners. These 5th generation plasma panels incorporate Samsung's exclusive Digital Natural Image engine (DNle™ ), which improves the picture by enhancing contrast, detail, white balance and noise reduction. Like all 2005 Samsung plasmas, HP-R4252 and HP-R5052 boast 10,000:1 contrast ratios, HDMI connections, and a built-in 2-way, 4-speaker sound system. Both models are true plug-and-play plasma TVs that enhance convenience and style by eliminating the need for a separate set-top box. Both plasmas offer performance and style in a package that's less than 4" deep. The 42" HP-R4252 is currently available at an MSRP of $3,499; the 50" HP-R5052 is available at an MSRP of $5,499

Also included in the 2005 plasma TV line is the 80" plasma, the largest available consumer flat-panel Widescreen HDTV. The HP-R8082, will feature high definition resolution, enhanced color vividness, and multiple A/V inputs sure to delight A/V enthusiasts. The experience of true high definition television is heightened by an elegant, modern design that makes it the ultimate home theater centerpiece, no matter the décor. Samsung's next generation of patented, proprietary DNIe imaging and Anynet home theater technologies complete the package for added innovative value. The 80" HP-R8082 will have limited availability in December 2005.
