LG ELECTRONICS INTRODUCES REVOLUTIONARY LCD HDTV EXPERIENCE WITH BUILT-IN HIGH-DEFINITION DVRs AT 2006 CES

High-Speed Response Times, Widest Viewing Angle and XD Engine™ Combine to Deliver Unparalleled LCD Performance

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2006 – LG Electronics today introduced 20 liquid crystal display (LCD) television models – led by three large-screen Digital Cable Ready HDTVs with built-in 160-gigabyte high-definition digital video recorders (DVRs). These products will be on display this week at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) (Booth #8214, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center).

As the world's largest producer of large-screen LCDs, LG's LCD TVs deliver unparalleled performance thanks to the 8ms response times, Super In-Plane Switching (Super IPS) technology for the industry's widest viewing angle (178 degrees), and LG's exclusive XD Engine video processing system for crisp images and rich, vibrant colors.

A leading developer of advanced flat-panel display and digital HDTV technologies, LG's 2006 LCD line-up includes 55-, 47-, 42-, 37-, 32-, 26- and 23-inch widescreen (16:9) high-definition displays, and 20- and 15-inch 4:3 enhanced-definition displays. LG's LCD offerings is one of the most complete in the marketplace because of its VESA-standard mounting connectors and wire management solutions, as well as three LCDs with built-in DVRs, a LCD with built-in DVD player and multiple designs.

High-Definition Digital Video Recorder
Meeting the growing desire for digitally converged and integrated products, LG introduced three new LCD TVs with built-in DVRs – the 47LB1DRA, 42LB1DRA and 42LB1DR – providing viewers with the convenience of DVR without the need for a separate set-top box. These units are capable of storing up to 15 hours of digital high-definition programming or 66 hours of standard-definition programming. Consumers have the ability to pause, rewind and replay live TV, skip commercials or other sections of programs, watch shows without missing a scene and watch them at anytime. These units also include the Gemstar TV Guide Onscreen® interactive program guide, which offers viewers a simple way to find and record their favorite shows and the ability store recorded programs in customized folders. Both of the 42-inch LCDs (42LB1DRA and 42LB1DR) and the 47-inch LCD with built-in DVR (47LB1DRA) are Digital Cable Ready, with the ability to access cable channels, including HD channels, without a cable box, further supporting the trend toward digital integration.

The 47LB1DRA 47-inch LCD goes one step further and integrates two ATSC tuners, giving consumers the freedom and flexibility to watch one high-definition channel and record another high-definition channel at the same time. The unit has true high-definition display resolution at 1920 x 1080p, the highest available display resolution on the market, resulting in a better overall picture quality and viewing experience. The display joins LG's giant 55-inch 1080p HDTV monitor (55LP1M) introduced fourth quarter 2005, in delivering the highest level of HDTV display resolution performance. The 47LB1DRA, expected to be available in the third-quarter 2006, also incorporates a host of features, including dual HDMI inputs and 9-in-2 memory card slots.

Style and Design
Beyond increased functionality and intuitive engineering, LG's 2006 LCDs provide new and innovative designs, further enhancing LG's breadth, depth and leadership in the LCD market. The LC2D and LC1RB Series provide stylish design without compromising functionality and LG's premium picture quality. The LC2D Series includes 26-, 32-, 37- and 42-inch models, and incorporates a bottom speaker and "wave" design for a fresh now look. The LC1B Series – in 15-, 20- and 23-inches – also integrates a bottom speaker with a curve design for a sleek, premium look and a base that pivots to provide wall-mounting capability. All units incorporate XD Engine, built-in ATSC/QAM tuners and Super IPS technology, and are expected to launch by second-quarter 2006 with the exception of the 26LC2D, which will be available later in the year.

LG rounds out its new LCD offerings with two additional unique and digitally converged products. LG's 26- and 37-inch Integrated LCD HDTVs (37LB1DA and 26LC2DV) are Digital Cable Ready and incorporate ATSC/QAM tuners, XD Engine, Super IPS Technology and HDMI inputs. The 26LC1DV goes one step further with a built-in DVD player integrated elegantly into the unit's base, providing consumers with yet another digitally converged product. The 37LB1DA will be available in the first quarter, while the 26LC1DV will launch in the third quarter of 2006.
