Vizio 60" MAXIMVS Plasma HDTV Breaks $3,000 Price Barrier Again

Vizio kicks off a giant 2007 with their affordable "Maximvs" 60-inch Plasma

COSTA MESA, CA and CES -- Las Vegas, NV -- January 5, 2007 -- Vizio, maker of multiple award-winning lines of high definition flat panel TV's, announces the introduction of their largest plasma HDTV to date-the 60" Maximvs (pronounced maximus) VM60P Plasma HDTV. The exceptional VM60P combines a giant image and affordability in a unique design execution.

"With the amazing number of awards our 50" plasma has received and our customers clamoring for a bigger Vizio, is where we started the idea for our new "Maximvs" TV," states Jeff Schindler, Vizio, Inc. Vice President of Marketing and Business Operations. "For starters, with the $2,999.99 price tag for the Maximvs 60", it will allow hordes of our fans to claim bragging rights to the largest flat panel on their block. But, it gets better. We've also put together a brand new design with more HDMI inputs, Genesis' Faroudja video processing and hidden speakers that are fully integrated into the TV's frame -- creating a picture-window appearance. To match many modern homes' decor, we are using an attractive, rich bronze finish for our Maximvs televisions," Schindler concludes.

With the Maximvs, bigger is only a start.
At a mammoth 60" diagonal, the VM60P not only offers a larger-than-life video experience, it's equipped with unique state-of-the-art features. By utilizing strong aluminum materials, the TV's designers were able to minimize the frame for this set. They could then offer a monster-sized 60" TV picture without overwhelming living rooms with bulky cabinets. Furthermore, the TV's speakers down-fire to a removable translucent sound reflector to further reduce the size of the TV and at the same time maximize sound impact - appropriate in larger rooms like those this television will be found in.

Its native resolution is an impressive 1366 x 768. Brightness is 1200cd/m(2) with 7,000:1 contrast ratio and 1.07 billion colors. Inputs include: four HDMI with HDCP, two Component YPbPr Video, RGB PC VGA-type, RF for the set's internal ATSC/QAM/NTSC Tuner, S-Video, two Composite Video plus a 5.1 Audio output from DTV input on SPDIF Optical.

Other features include: HDTV 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p signal input support, PIP, POP, CC, V-Chip, 3D Comb Filter, Zoom, Freeze. Like the award-winning Vizio 50" plasmas, it comes with Genesis' Faroudja DCDi De-Interlacing on both Main & PIP screens, 3:2 or 2:2 Reverse Pull-down, SRS-TSXT Sound enhancement, input selectable color temperatures of 9300k, 6500K and 5400K, plus Independent Red, Green and Blue adjustment for user fine-tuning. It also comes with Vizio's popular backlight remote control, easy-to-navigate user interface and poster-sized Quick-Start guide.

The future is both big and bright.
According to DisplaySearch founder and president Ross Young, "Vizio has once again established a breakthrough price for a highly desirable product. 60" plus-sized plasmas cost more than 3 times this Vizio price just 18 months ago and more than 2 times the price in Q3 '06. Vizio's breakthrough price-point will help enable rapid growth in this segment and significantly challenge the projection TV market. DisplaySearch expects the 60" plus-size North American TV market to rise 90% from 2006 to 2010 to over 1.3M sets."*

"Unquestionably, the Maximvs will have a dramatic impact on the market with the new 60" model priced at more than 50% less than the current 60" Plasma average selling price," stated Quixel Research's Tamaryn Pratt. "Quixel's primary research studies indicate that American consumers' preferred TV screen size is 55"-60". However, until the Maximvs's launch, the price for a 60" Plasma TV has been prohibitive. At this price, size and quality, we expect the new Vizio 60" Plasma to be a disruptive force in the TV market, capturing a significant portion of the 400 percent growth Quixel has forecasted for the 60" plasma display segment in 2007," Pratt concluded.

The Maximvs 60" VM60P will be available at national retail stores and online at www.vizio.com beginning in February at an every day price of just $2,999.99. Like all Vizio televisions over 30", the VM60P comes with a one-year onsite service warranty, online and toll-free tech support.

Meet the rest of the Vizio plasma family.
VM60P joins Vizio's line of award-winning plasma HDTVs. The 50" P50HDTV and the 42" VP42HDTV that have kept the Vizio brand amongst the top 5 in the U.S. These widescreen plasma HDTVs are available now for $1,899.99 and $1,099.99 respectively.
