Daewoo Showcases 2005 Lineup of Plasma TVs
at International Consumer Electronics Show
LAS VEGAS, NV (January 6, 2005)-- Daewoo Electronics America, Inc. will
showcase its complete line of trendsetting plasma televisions on January 6, 2004
at the International Consumer Electronics Show. A vast assortment of 42, 50 and
60-inch models will be on display emphasizing the company's goal to become
a major force in the digital TV market by 2007. Daewoo Electronics is one of
only a handful of manufacturers of plasma televisions to build its own display
panels, and is committed to providing exceptional quality at an affordable
price.
The company's plasma-panel displays that will be on exhibit include:
DTS-50HDA and DP-50SM: 50-inch and DP-6010: 60-inch models are available in
the wide-screen high-definition digital plasma display that are only 4.2 inches
deep. It's capable of reproducing the full range of digital-TV formats,
including 480i, 480p, 1080i and its native 720p resolution. The display offers
1,000 cd/m2 peak luminance and a 160-degree viewing angle. Multiple inputs
include component, DVI interface, A/V, and a cable card slot. A digital 3D comb
filter and Dynamic Pixel Management is also included. All Daewoo plasma
televisions contain Daewoo’s proprietary MGDITM engine. The extraordinary
technology's best attribute is its color regeneration and 3D color
correction of difficult natural colors. Images are also enhanced in terms of
contrast, brightness, and edging levels. Noise reduction and high fidelity
dithering are some of the other features that aid to the overwhelmingly superior
picture quality from Daewoo plasma televisions. The DP-50SM is currently
available with an MSRP of $4,999 while the DTS-50HDA and the 60-inch version
will be available for the second half of 2005 with an MSRP of $5,999 and $7,999
respectively.
DTS-42, DTS-4234 and the DTS-428 are 42-inch wide-screen enhanced-definition
digital plasma television with native 480p resolution and an ultra-slim depth of
3.2 inches. The units are equipped with built-in tuners and come with a set of
speakers. The displays boast extremely high brightness and a 1500:1 contrast
ratio, with 700 cd/m2 peak luminance and a wide 160-degree viewing angle. A
digital 3D comb filter assures sharp images, while the unit’s Dynamic Pixel
Management system provides burn-in protection capabilities. The 42-inch models
also possess the capsulated color filter and MGDITM engine to ensure a superior
quality picture. Also included are a five-band equalizer sound control and a
still image capture function, among other conveniences. The DTS-42 is currently
available with an MSRP of $2,299, with the other two models being available in
the 2nd quarter of 2005.
DTS-42HDT is 42-inch wide-screen high-definition digital plasma television
with native 720p resolution. This high definition model comes with an built-in
ATSC tuner and numerous inputs for any multimedia application. With a 850:1
contrast ratio, with 600 cd/m2 peak luminance and a wide 160-degree viewing
angle, HD content will jump off the screen. Availability is scheduled for 2nd
quarter 2005 with an MSRP of $3,999.
Daewoo Electronics' full line of high-performance, value-priced products
