TOSHIBA’S FLAT PANEL TELEVISIONS HELP CONSUMERS DESIGN DREAM SPACES

Toshiba combines superior picture quality with modern design in a line-up that shows its commitment to growth in flat panel

CES, LAS VEGAS - JANUARY 5, 2005 – Toshiba America Consumer Products', L.L.C., (Toshiba) Flat Panel line-up includes models for a broad range of needs and tastes, and virtually any room in the home. Featuring models in both the TheaterWide® and Cinema Series® product lines, Toshiba offers one of the industry's most comprehensive selections of Flat Panel displays. Toshiba flat panel TVs work well in any décor or setting. Whether it is large pieces of furniture, rich room detail or a small room that benefits from being able to limit the footprint of the TV, Toshiba has a flat panel set that will help bring any room design or style to life.

Toshiba boasts one of the widest arrays of flat panels in the industry including screen sizes ranging from 14 to 42 inches and a selection of widescreen (16:9) Plasma, widescreen (16:9) LCD, widescreen (16:9) LCD/DVD combo and standard (4:3) LCD.

To ensure high picture quality, Toshiba will incorporate its advanced PixelPure™ Digital Processing Suite into most of its 16:9 HD Flat Panel displays. Utilizing Toshiba's advanced circuitry; PixelPure delivers the consistent quality picture expected from Toshiba TVs. Eight Key PixelPure components include:

6.2 Million Pixel Over Sampling – for Higher Perceived Resolution with Decreased Image Distortion

Real Speed Progressive Scanning – uses Additional Sampling Points to Create Smoother Diagonal Lines

Magic Square Algorithm – for Smooth and Natural Color Gradation

Dynamic Contrast Enhancer – for Higher Perceived Contrast and Increased Color Saturation and Purity

Super Real Transient and Small Signal Sharpness – for Sharp Transitions from Dark to Bright

Color Transient Improver – for Sharp Transitions on Color Changes without Bleeding

Color Detail Enhancer – to maintain Fine Image Detail in Color Saturated Areas

True to Toshiba's heritage of offering feature-rich products, all 16:9 HD models will also include DVI or HDMI™ digital inputs for uncompressed, pure digital video, and CableClear™ DNR+ video noise reduction which reduces video noise for a clean, crisp image.

Cinema Series Flat Panel
Toshiba's 42HPX84 (42") Plasma HD Monitor features 720p (1024x768) True HD panel resolution. Toshiba also displayed the 32HLX84 (32"), its newest 16:9 HD Monitor LCD TV featuring 720p (1366x768) True HD panel resolution and dual HDMI™ digital inputs.

Cosmetically, the Plasma model utilizes a new double baffle design, while the LCD model utilizes a new space saving bottom speaker design. Understanding the importance of an upscale family design, both sets feature a glossy black finish with silver banding.

Other features include SRS® WOW™ and Virtual Dolby® for unparalleled sound quality, as well as Digital 3DYC Comb Filter, Cinema Mode (3:2 Pull Down), Color Temperature Control, HD Dynamic Contrast, and Movie and Sports modes.

TheaterWide Flat Panels
Toshiba also displayed its full line of TheaterWide models, including the 23HL84 (23") HD Monitor LCD TV and the 23HLV84 (23") HD Monitor LCD TV/DVD combination unit. Both sets offer a panel resolution of 720p (1366 x 768) True HD and a contrast ratio of 500:1. The 23HLV84 (23") incorporates a built-in slot loading DVD player to increase the product's versatility. In addition to DVD-Video, CD and Video CD playback, the player is also DVD-R/CD-R/CD-RW compatible. Both 23" models also feature a 15-Pin D-Sub (VGA) Input for use with a PC. Also shipping and on display at CES are the 26HL84 (25.5") and 32HL84 (31.5") HD Monitor LCD TVs.

Additional features found in TheaterWide 16:9 HD Monitor Flat Panel displays include DVI or HDMI™ inputs, Digital 3DYC Comb Filter, CableClear™ DNR+, Color Temperature Control, HD Dynamic Contrast, and Movie and Sports modes.

Toshiba's TheaterWide Flat Panel line also includes two standard (4:3) models – the 14DL74 (14") and the 20DL74 (20"). These sets offer panel resolutions of 640 x 480 and 800 x 600 respectively, a contrast of 500:1, and a Digital Comb Filter. To ensure connectivity, both models also feature RF, A/V, S-Video and ColorStream® Component Video Inputs. Focusing on aesthetics, these sets also offer a space-saving design.

The 42HP84 (42") Plasma television, which features a panel resolution of 720p (1024 x 768) True HD, will be on display at the event.
