New LED Internet TV Builds upon Sony’s History of Amazing Picture Quality

INDIANAPOLIS (CEDIA Booth #4025), Sept. 5, 2012– Sony Electronics announced its new flagship BRAVIA® HDTV, the 55-inch and 65-inch XBR-HX950, $4,499.99 and $5,499.99, respectively. Ideal for viewing content from any source, the XBR-HX950 LED Internet TV includes the X-Reality PRO Engine, a two-chip digital video processor that optimizes any type of HD, SD or low-resolution Internet video. The XBR LED Internet TV features Sony’s Intelligent Peak LED Backlight which uses full-array local dimming for better detail in black, and improved brightness creating incredible on-screen contrast. Coupled with Sony’s OptiContrast panel and Corning Gorilla Glass™ which reduces glare, this TV delivers the picture to the front surface of the of the screen and nearly brings the image to life.

Connect this model to a home broadband network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable and consumers can access a wide array of content providers on the Sony Entertainment Network. Sony’s Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited, as well as Netflix™, Pandora®, HuluPlus™, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube™, Slacker® Internet Radio, Crackle and Blip.tv.

Additionally, the TV’s picture engine employs multi-frame analysis to help create missing resolution, and Sony’s Super Bit Mapping technology incorporates 14 bit up-scaling, processing and pixel mapping to smooth gradation and improve the quality of low-tone pictures. Sony’s MotionFlow™ XR technology helps to reduce blur caused by quick camera movements, enhancing sharpness and creating a clearer picture during fast–action sports, movies and games.

The XBR LED Internet TV also features an improved remote control and works with the Sony Media Remote application on iPhone, iPod Touch or Android mobile devices. The app, free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, functions as a full remote with keyboard and allows online content search and playback control.
