PANASONIC EXPANDS FLAT PANEL DISPLAY LINE-UP WITH DEBUT OF 32" PROFESSIONAL LCD DISPLAY

SECAUCUS, NJ (February 10, 2005) – Panasonic Broadcast has announced the expansion of its flat panel display product line with the introduction of the 32" diagonal TH-32LHD7UY LCD display, its first professional LCD panel.

The TH-32LHD7UY is a 1,366 x 768 pixel (approx. 3.15 million pixels) WXGA-resolution LCD panel -- with an excellent brightness of 500 cd/m² and a high 800:1contrast ratio -- that produces sharp, detailed pictures for information display use. The high definition 16:9 aspect ratio panel can display 16.77 million colors and offers a 170 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angle.

The TH-32LHD7UY's 3D Color Management system is a new correction process that works in a three-dimensional color matrix (hue, saturation and brightness) rather than the conventional two-dimensional color differential plane. By correcting hue and brightness independently and providing finer control, the TH-32LHD7UY presents natural skin tones and vivid colors. The LCD panel has a service life of approximately 60,000 hours.

Its extremely fast response time of 14 msec. means that moving images appear sharp and clear, with virtually no blurring even in scenes showing very rapid movement. The LCD display's Active I/P (Interlace/Progressive) Conversion system detects slow movements more precisely by increasing the range for moving-picture and still-picture pixel detection, thereby producing crisper images while increasing the vertical resolution in interlaced images.

The TH-32LHD7UY's advanced imaging technologies include a Mach Enhancer for more natural edge correction; Digital Cinema Reality for faithful reproduction of film source material; C.A.T.S. (Contrast Automatic Tracking System) for automatic control of the display brightness to match the ambient illumination level; and Adaptive Contract AGC to boost the average brightness with extended white levels.

The HD display offers a full range of convenient features, including a Dual Picture mode that allows the user to simultaneously display images from two, different AV sources, and a Digital Zoom mode that lets the user enlarge a portion of an image by up to four times normal size and display it on the full screen. For ease of use, TH-32LHD7UY offers onscreen menus in eight languages, removable carrying handles and a noise-suppressing design. It's equipped with these professional inputs/outputs: two composite, two S-Video, one Y/Pb/Pr component and one audio. An optional Serial Digital Input (SDI) is available.

Two interchangeable slots at the panel's rear allows the user to customize it with a wide range of optional terminal boards for specific applications. Options also include pedestal stand, a wall-hanging bracket, and detachable stereo speakers.

The TH-32LHD7UY offers a broad range of energy-saving functions, including Display Power Management Signaling, whereby power is automatically turned on/off in response to a sync signal from the PC connected to the built-in PC input board; Auto Power Off; Power Save Mode, reducing the display's brightness; and a Standby Power Save Mode.

The TH-32LHD7UY will be available March at a suggested list price of $3,495.
