FILM MOVEMENT LAUNCHES ROKU CHANNEL

Award-winning independent films available with a click via Roku Streaming Players

NEW YORK – September 23, 2013 - Film Movement (www.filmmovement.com), the distributor of award-winning independent and foreign films, announces today the launch of a Roku® channel dedicated to the company’s vast – and growing – catalogue of movies with prestigious festival pedigrees and sought-after filmmakers and stars. Through Roku’s industry-leading streaming players, viewers in the United States will be able to enjoy Film Movement movies on-demand from the comfort of their own home.

The Film Movement channel – available in the Roku Channel Store now – features a selection of films direct from global film festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca, Berlin and Toronto. A reputation for delivering high-quality arthouse fare, Film Movement expands its reach via Roku, ensuring that more households than ever can experience the best in narrative and documentary independent films.

“Our goal at Film Movement is to make sure as many people as possible can see our great films, and we’re thrilled to partner with a streaming platform as innovative as Roku to make our movies available to their users,” said company president Adley Gartenstein.

At launch, Film Movement on Roku will host nearly 50 titles. Featured films include the early work of some of today’s brightest stars, including 2010’s HELENA FROM THE WEDDING, starring Melanie Lynskey (The Perks of Being a Wallflower; Up in the Air) and Corey Stoll (House of Cards); Zoe Lister-Jones (Lola Versus, Whitney) in 2007’s ARRANGED; and the 2005 comedy ADAM’S APPLES, starring Mads Mikkelsen (the star of TV’s acclaimed Hannibal).

Movies are categorized in traditional genres – Drama, Comedy, Romance – as well as groups unique to Film Movement’s brand. Not sure where to start? Explore the films in “Watch These First” for an introduction. Looking for films previously featured at certain film festivals? There are categories for that, too.

Film Movement’s expanded distribution marks the beginning of a strategic partnership with adRise, the largest content distribution and advertising monetization engine for streaming connected TV devices.

“We are excited to work with an innovative partner such as Film Movement. We have seen a large amount of growth in streaming and connected device usage this year and know that consumers will be happy to have access to such premium content,” said Farhad Massoudi, CEO of adRise.

The ad-supported channel is free to access; new films will be added every other week, ensuring consistently fresh content.
