Toshiba Expands Line of Flat Panel Televisions to Include 19 Models in 10 Sizes, Demonstrating Its Strong Commitment to Flat Panel TV

Toshiba's Full Line-Up of Plasma, LCD and LCDVD(TM) Includes New Sizes and More Options in Flat Panel TV

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. ("Toshiba") announced a significantly expanded 2005 flat panel line-up at its line show in New Mexico today. With 19 flat panel TVs, ranging from Plasma to LCD to LCD with built-in DVD (LCDVD), Toshiba is demonstrating its commitment to delivering Toshiba's leading picture quality and size choices in flat panel TV. In addition, Toshiba introduced the new SoundStrip(TM) speaker system. This new system creates a space-saving and cosmetically pleasing design by eliminating the extra space of traditional side or bottom speakers.

Featuring models in both the TheaterWide(R) and Cinema Series(R) product lines Toshiba now offers one of the industry's most comprehensive selections of flat panel TVs, and the industry's largest selection of LCDVD. Toshiba's flat panel TVs give consumers the option to make high quality television part of any room design or lifestyle.

"With flat panel TV models from 14" to 50", Toshiba's extensive 2005 line- up provides every conceivable option for the consumer," said Scott Ramirez, VP, Marketing. "Moving the category forward, our industry leading line-up of eight LCDVD combo models provides the ultimate in convenience, and integration into any home decor."

Toshiba boasts one of the widest arrays of flat panel TVs in the industry, including screen sizes ranging from 14 to 50 inches measured diagonally, with a selection of widescreen Plasma, widescreen LCD, widescreen LCDVD combo and standard (4:3) LCD.

To ensure the highest possible picture quality, Toshiba will incorporate its next generation PixelPure(TM) AT Digital Video Processing into most of its widescreen HD flat panel models. PixelPure AT (Adaptive Technology) will deliver the consistently high quality picture expected from Toshiba TVs.

AT includes:
-- Motion Adaptive De-Interlacing
-- Adaptive MPEG Processing
-- Adaptive Contrast Enhancement
-- Adaptive Color Enhancement
And more ...

True to Toshiba's heritage of offering feature-rich products, all widescreen HD models will also include HDMI(TM) digital inputs for uncompressed, pure digital video, and CableClear(R) DNR video noise reduction which reduces video noise for a clean, crisp image. In addition, all Integrated HD flat panel TV models include a CableCARD(TM) slot, TV Guide On Screen(R) and Toshiba's new Channel Browser system, which brings the Back Button to the TV.

Cinema Series Flat Panel
Toshiba kicks off its 2005 Cinema Series line up with its new 50HPX95 (50") and 42HPX95 (42") Integrated HD Plasma TVs, featuring 720p True HD panel resolution. The 42HPX95 and 50HPX95 Plasma TVs also come equipped with a PC input, and IEEE1394 (DTVLink) for connection to an optional Symbio(TM) HD Recorder.

The Cinema Series Plasma models will include a revolutionary new feature called THINC(TM) (Toshiba Home Interactive Network Connection). This home entertainment networking feature allows consumers to connect their TV to their computer and playback MP3 files and JPEG files, using only the TV remote.

In the LCDVD category, Toshiba announced the new 32HLX95 (32") and 37HLX95 (37") Integrated HD LCD TVs with built-in DVD. These TVs feature 720p True HD panel resolution, CableCARD Slot, TV Guide On-Screen, dual HDMI(TM) digital inputs, and a PC input.
