Samsung Partners with Mandalay Sports Media to Create Unique Second Screen Content

Partners to Utilize Second Screen Storytelling to Provide Innovative Interactive Experiences on Samsung Smart TVs, Tablets and Smartphones

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, has entered into a partnership with Mandalay Sports Media to create second screen content to be distributed via a variety of Samsung products. Currently in the initial phase of the partnership, Mandalay Sports Media will incorporate the “second screen storytelling experience” on new and original content that will showcase productions beginning with the script writing process while providing an interactive experience for users throughout development and production.

Available on 2012, 2013 and 2014 Samsung Smart TVs and a variety of tablets and smartphones, the second screen experience was designed to open a new and immersive genre for home entertainment. Through this partnership, Mandalay Sports Media is currently developing a variety of shows that will be coupled with Samsung’s Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology platform to enable complementary and supplementary content experiences for TV programming. Consumers that opt-in to this unique offering will have the opportunity to experience new content from the show at the exact time that it is relevant to the storyline.

Our partnership with Mandalay will allow viewers to experience this new genre of home entertainment”.

In 2013, Parks Associates estimated that 23% of the 136 million TV households in North America will own a Smart TV. By 2017, ownership will grow to more than half (53%) of TV households.
