Microtek Announces Line of Plasma HDTVs

Line to offer enthusiasts plug-and-play simplicity

CARSON, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, CES, -- (January 3, 2007) -- Microtek, a world-leading manufacturer of digital imaging products, has announced the launch of high-definition flat-panel TVs that carry the Microtek name in the United States through its North American subsidiary Microtek Lab, Inc. These HDTVs are designed for video enthusiasts that want plug-and-play simplicity. The first two HDTVs from Microtek are the 42-inch MHP1-HDI plasma HDTV and the 50-inch P50TX1A plasma HDTV.

"The new high-definition plasma flat-panel TVs from Microtek deliver outstanding picture quality right out of the box", said Parker Plaisted, product brand manager at Microtek. "Many HDTVs are set to look bright and colorful in a retail store environment, but they need adjustment to deliver more natural color when you get one home. When you connect a Microtek high-definition TV to your input sources at home, you can immediately relax and enjoy the picture quality because our high-definition TVs are individually calibrated at the factory to deliver optimum color balance, color saturation, brightness and contrast in a typical home viewing environment."

Input Connections and Video Signals
The Microtek HDTVs offer a full array of input options that allow you to connect several devices to the HDTV to create a comprehensive media center. These input connections include antenna ports for analog NTSC and digital ATSC tuners, composite video, S-video, component video (YPbPr), computer RGB via VGA port, and HDMI for 100% digital data transmission. Using advanced scaler technology, these HDTVs accept and accurately display video at 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i.

Design and Specifications for Microtek Line
The Microtek HDTVs have a slim silver case and come with detachable speakers and base. The 42-inch MHP1-HDI model has a 1024 by 768 native resolution, 1300 cd/m(2) brightness, and 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The 50-inch P50TX1A model has a 1366 by 768 native resolution, 1000 cd/m(2) brightness, and 8,000:1 contrast ratio. Factory calibration for each TV sets the brightness, contrast, sharpness, color saturation, and color balance for a typical home viewing environment. With more than 20 years of experience in digital color imaging, the Microtek engineering team has chosen high-quality components and implemented rigorous design specifications to deliver outstanding picture quality.
