Innovative HPR8072 Widescreen Plasma HDTV Boasts an Unprecedented 80” Screen and the Best Resolution Available

Las Vegas, NV -- Plasma TV pioneer Samsung Electronics America, Inc., ushers in a new age of awe with its 2005 line of Widescreen Plasma HDTVs. Led by the CES Innovations Award honored HPR8072 and HPR5072 models, Samsung's 2005 plasma TVs represent the best the market has to offer, with peerless video playback, eye-popping color display and true theater-quality size. 80" Plasma – World's Largest
With a cinema-sized 80" screen, the Innovation Award honored Samsung HPR8072 Widescreen Plasma HDTV is the world's largest consumer television. The groundbreaking plasma TV complements a huge screen size with the best resolution available on the market (1920 x 1080) and progressive scanning for the ultimate in smooth video playback. The set offers the highest level of HDTV support, with high brightness (1500cd/m2), a high contrast ratio (5000:1) and 12-bit processing combining to provide an astounding 68.7 billion displayable colors.

The HPR8072 was designed with a modern high gloss bezel that can be custom ordered in multiple colors for high-end A/V consumers who have specific tastes and décor needs. Custom matching tall-boy style speakers and a matching specialized component rack ensure that the top-of-the-line plasma is a conversation piece whether on or off. The HPR8072 also includes Samsung's latest proprietary DNIe (Digital Natural Image engine) chip for improved image quality, and the Samsung patented Anynet home networking chip, for a genuine confluence of performance and convenience. The 80" HPR8072 will be available in Summer 2005.

50" Widescreen Plasma HDTV
The culmination of Samsung's long-term commitment to excellence in design and performance, the 50" HPR5072 Widescreen Plasma HDTV is the television of choice for the home theater elite. The Innovation honoree reinforces Samsung's leadership in the plasma TV technology category offering the Best Picture quality available in a plasma television. An industry leading 10,000:1 contrast ratio displays the deepest blacks and the most brilliant whites for an impressive level of picture detail. 1,376 X 768 progressive resolution showcases 68.7 billion vibrant colors. With a panel life (to ½ brightness) of 60,000 hours, viewers can exalt in decades of superb picture quality (27 years @ 6 hr/day.) A horizontal viewing angle of more than 175 degrees provides a picture-perfect entertainment experience from anywhere in the room. A feat of modern design, the HPR5072 features an edge-to-edge EMI glass filter with no bezel, to create a striking floating glass effect. The plasma includes an integrated stand and speaker, with a detachable speaker grille. The 50" HPR5072 will be available in April 2005 and is positioned at an MSRP of $6,999.

Samsung will also offer 63" and 42" versions of its award-winning Widescreen Plasma HDTVs. The HPR 6372 and the HPR4272 will feature high definition progressive resolution, superior color vividness, and precise video playback sure to delight A/V enthusiasts. The experience of true high definition television is heightened by an elegant, modern design that makes each set the ideal home theater centerpiece, no matter what the décor. Samsung's next generation of patented, proprietary DNIe imaging and Anynet home theater technologies complete the package for an indisputable overall value. The 63", HPR6372 will be available in June 2005 and is positioned at an MSRP of $12,999. The 42" HPR4272 will be available in May 2005 and is positioned at an MSRP of $4,499.
