FROM THE COMEDIC MINDS OF SETH MEYERS AND MICHAEL SHOEMAKER COMES THE FIRST ANIMATED HULU ORIGINAL SERIES “THE AWESOMES”
A Hopeful Group Of Second-Class Superheroes Leap Into Action On Hulu And Hulu Plus Thursday, August 1
WHAT: After leading “America’s Greatest Superhero Team” for 70 years, Mr. Awesome (Steve Higgins), the first and greatest superhero, announces his decision to retire. Determined to follow in his father’s footsteps is the most under-qualified, Professor Doctor Awesome (Seth Meyers), aka Prock. Using his “super-genius brain,” Prock assembles and trains a new team of superheroes with limited superpowers. Conversely, notorious super villain, Dr. Malocchio (Bill Hader), an evil, well-dressed Italian with the power to control minds, and a taste for sashimi, decides it’s time to come out of super-villain retirement.
Co-created and written by Michael Shoemaker (“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”), and Meyers (“SNL”), “The Awesomes” is Hulu’s first animated Original Series. Made for adults, it combines the thrills of comic book storytelling with irreverent and inspired comedy. In addition to Meyers and Shoemaker, some of the brightest comedic minds lend their voice to the characters, including Rashida Jones, Ike Barinholtz, Kenan Thompson, Taran Killam, Rachel Dratch, Josh Meyers, Paula Pell and Bobby Moynihan.
