RCA INTRODUCES ROKU® READY LED LCD HDTVS AT 2014 INTERNATIONAL CES

TVs Include Roku Streaming Stick for instant Access to a Wealth of Online Programming

Las Vegas, NV, January 7, 2014 – RCA is stepping up its HDTV game in 2014 with an extensive LED-backlit LCD lineup that includes affordable Roku Ready® models with the Roku Streaming Stick™ included in screen sizes ranging from 28 to 65 inches. Additionally, RCA is introducing its first two HDTV sets with curved design.

The sleek, thin-bezel models will be available in 720p and 1080p resolutions. The RCA brand is owned by Technicolor and is licensed to On Corporation for manufacturing and distribution.

“In addition to delivering great images at affordable prices, many of our new HDTVs provide instant access to a wealth of online programming through either built-in Smart TV functionality or a Roku Streaming Stick,” said Jonathan Zupnik, executive vice president of marketing for On Corporation. “These models meet the increasing consumer demand for a simple, convenient way to stream movies, TV shows, and all kinds of Internet content alongside traditional cable/satellite-delivered programming.”

RCA’s Roku Ready HDTVs are bundled with a Roku Streaming Stick, that when inserted into the MHL port of the TV provides access to more than 1,000 entertainment channels. For the ultimate convenience, all Roku commands can be controlled by the TV’s remote control. Screen sizes are 28, 32, 40, 46, 50, 55, and 65 inches and the sets are equipped with two to four HDMI inputs (depending on the model), composite- and component-video inputs, a digital audio output and a headphone jack.

Smart TV models are based on the Android (formerly Google) TV platform, which provides an integrated onscreen interface with access to cable/satellite TV, apps and online content, including more than 100,000 on-demand movies and TV episodes and thousands of YouTube channels. Smart features include:

  • Google Chrome web browser
  • Google’s PrimeTime guide, which lets you browse channels while streaming or watching live TV and makes recommendations of shows you might be interested in based on personal preferences
  • Google TV Search for quickly finding shows by title, channel name, actor, genre and more
  • Voice search

Smart TV screen sizes are 32, 40, 50, 55 and 65 inches.

RCA is also introducing 46- and 55-inch curved-screen LED-backlit LCD HDTVs. Framed in an ultra-thin bezel, the gently bowed screen is designed to deliver an optimum viewing experience.

The 2014 TV lineup also includes “combo” models in 28-, 32-, 40-, 46- and 50-inch screen sizes featuring either a built-in DVD or Blu-ray player. Blu-ray models support DivX, MP4, WMV, MP3 and JPG formats, while the DVD models support CD, SVCD and VCD disc formats. These models can support Netflix and YouTube through a wired or WiFi connection.

All models use a combination of direct and edge-lit LED backlighting for improved picture performance. Pricing will be announced at International CES.
