My Experience: Initially purchased five years ago, at the time, state of the art in TV. Paid 3200 for the set new with stand. Picture quality rivals that of todays technology, and very easy to use. Sound quality from the TV is also well above that of todays upper end models

Problems: After about 2 years, started to develop a dark line across the bottom of the picture. Since then the problem has worsened and the entire picture has gone yellow. Called the store where I purchaed the set from, they said to call Hitachi. They basically said that I was S.O.L and that I should buy a new Hitachi for what it would cost me to fix (about 600.00). I have since e-mailed Hitachi and of course not heard back from them. Terrible customer service and would never buy or recomment Hitachi again to anyone even though they have the better end of picture quality and ease of use. It's good but not worth dealing with then if you have any problems. SAD
