My Experience: Bought in Dec '05. Blue blob appeared days after 3 year extended warranty expired. Called Hitachi customer care- well they don't care and were rude to me on the phone! I will never buy another Hitachi POS again! Also, there may be a class action suit against them for knowing about this light engine defect but still selling them anyways! Guess I'll have to wait and see if I can recoup any of my $2,000 investment since now this thing's worthless.
Problems: Light engine went out after 3 years. Blue blob appears on screen. New part/ labor cost $1,000+. DO NOT BUY HITACHI
