My Experience: TC-P65VT30 HD/3D

(01.03.13) Brampton, Ontario Canada

Wow... what a HUGE box this puppy comes in. Would not fit in my 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. Had to have it delivered by panel truck.

I am very impressed with the thought level that goes into the packaging of these big-screen TV's. My 52" SONY BRAVIA LCD/CCFL was the same. I was able (without cutting) to unpack my new TC-P65VT30 'and' attach the stand without help... It's a BIG ASS panel let me tell you (123.2 LBS)... Kudos to the packaging designers...

After I peeled away the cardboard, Styrofoam and plastic wrap, I 'THOROUGHLY' inspected the Anti-Glare Coating (AGC) that is on the screen. I have heard that the AGC easily scratches (mentions this in the manual also!!!). There is NO 'fix' for AGC damage... EXERCISE EXTREME CARE WITH THE FACE OF THE PANEL!!!

Have had the 65VT30 for one week now and all I can say is 'AWESOME'... As I mentioned above, I previously owned a 52" SONY BRAVIA LCD/CCFL. A great panel for sure, but I wanted a slightly larger panel with 3D capability. With some online research, I decided on the Panasonic TC-P65VT30 @ $2999.99.

Many people have expressed their 'displeasure' at the fact that Panasonic includes only one pair of 3D glasses with this unit. IMO, two pair of glasses should be MINIMUM. However, I had an extra pair of glasses 'thrown-in' at no extra cost. Simple work-around! No Biggie!!!

Set-up was simple... A power cord and two HDMI cables (not incl.) was all that I needed to fire-up this 65" monster plasma 3D display.

Hi-Def cable signals are outstanding... Very sharp and colours are super accurate. Hi-Def 3D signals are AWESOME!!! 3D is the 'ONLY' way to really appreciate a movie! I have viewed Finding Nemo, Avatar and Prometheus in 3D. Prometheus was outstanding!!!

With big-screen TV prices plummeting, at < $3000, the TC-P65VT30 is worth every penny! I paid near that for my 52" SONY BRAVIA LCD five years ago.

If you can conjure up $3000 and are looking for a big-screen 3D panel, look no further than the Panasonic TC-P65VT30.

John

Problems: The only problem that I have had with the TC-P65VT30 is that one of my HDMI cables will not stay in the HDMI slot. The HDMI connectors are positioned vertically and allow for loose fitting HDMI cables to 'fall out'... If you have a 'loose' HDMI cable end, it's not going to stay...

However, I fault the HDMI cable for this issue and not the TC-P65CT30.
