My Experience: I'll start with a big WOW!! I was originally looking at rear projection (DLP or LCD) but I couldn't live with the drastic changes of off axis viewing - they have come a long way since the CRT projection sets, but still not up to my wishes. I read the manual last night and was shocked to find that I had already figured out the whole user menu by just exploring. I view this set at about 12 to 15' and could not ask for a better picture from all sources - Xbox, DVD, antenna. I watched both HD and SD broadcasts this weekend and was pleased with the results of both. DVD player was an old Sony with just component out, but not progressive and the picture is still unbelievable. The TH-42PWD8UK is essentially the same unit, but has no onboard sound, slightly different connections and has a black bezel - that unit is available for around $1600 delivered! Both units are the Generation 8 Panasonic screen.

Problems: Some of the other units near this price range offer PIP - I wouldn't mind having that. And I would prefer to have a removeable speaker - this is offered on low and high end units from other manufacturers.
