My Experience: I received the set on 1/16/08 and have used it daily (only as a TV) for more than a month. I live in a rural, fringe reception area where cable is not available. I use an amplified rabbit-ear antenna by Magnavox. Most of the time the signal strength stays well above the recommended 65% rating.

This set receives all stations received by my non-digital sets plus additional HD stations not available on my conventional sets. The majority of the time signal strength is good enough to watch most channels. During certain, unstable weather conditions I lose digital signals on about half the HD stations. I can still watch the analog signals from these stations.

Over-all we like the set and are impressed with its' features. Claimed scan formats are another story. See problems section.

Problems: When watching HD programs that are broadcast in 720P format, picture quality is great, but, within a minute or 2 of selecting the station a voice sync problem is noted and the sync problem becomes worse until the picture is 3 or more syllables behind the sound. The time interval between commercials produces a sync problem too great for comfortable watching. Even mid-commercial sync-timing is annoying.

When the program signal is interrupted, e.g. by reception interrupt or by momentarily changing channels, sound sync is restored. It is annoying to have to do this to make viewing enjoyable. We end up selecting the 480I format, if available, to watch the program.

All interlaced signals view normally. When available, by switching from the progressive scan to interlaced format on any station, the voice sync problem is gone.

There are no 1080P programs broadcast yet but I suspect the problem will be apparent there as well, probably to a greater extent. It appears the internal computer scan rate is too slow to handle the format conversion to progressive scan. In short, this does not appear to be a set fully capable of progressive scan viewing.
