My Experience: Purchased in 2oo6. We used surround system so I can't say too much on the long term sound quality. The picture was good for 3 years, then we started getting a split screen mess. Once you are out of warranty (1 year) Philips apparently does not care about you.

Ultimately, 2 local repair estimates for hardware have come in at just under $800 before tax. Kind of hard to rationalize spending that much when we can buy or invest in better and newer. Ironically I have an old ~36 " Mitsubishi guest bedroom back-up that has been working for over 20 years.
No more Philips or Sony's for me.
